Virgil A. DiBiase, MD
Dr. DiBiase is the Medical Director of Associates in Neurology’s Neurovascular Ultrasound Lab and the Vestibular Lab. The Neurovascular Lab is the only transcranial Doppler lab accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission in Indiana. Transcranial ultrasonography is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that is used to assess blood flow abnormalities to the brain. This is helpful in determining how to best treat and prevent strokes in those who are at risk. The vestibular lab includes state-of-the-art video nystagmography equipment that enables physicians to determine the cause of dizziness and vertigo. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is one of the most common causes of vertigo and is frequently treated in our laboratory within a matter of minutes.
Dr. DiBiase graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1990 and completed his residency training in Neurology at the University of Cincinnati Hospitals where he served as the Chief Resident.
Dr. DiBiase completed his post graduate training in Neurosonology at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s and Bowman Grey School of Medicine and is certified by the American Society of Neuroimaging in Neurosonology. He is board certified in both neurology and vascular neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Neuroimaging, Vestibular Disorders Association, American Heart Association, and National Stroke Association.
He has practiced in Valparaiso, Indiana since 1994 and is Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
