Dr. Khabbaz has been intrigued with the complexities of heart valve repair and replacements since his early surgical training and was instrumental in developing Porter’s Heart Valve Center in 2010 – the region’s first center dedicated exclusively to the intricacies of treating heart valve disease. Dr. Khabbaz earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago, then his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Saint Louis University in Missouri. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, Northwest Center for Medical Education.
